Spark AR Badge

Design Notes: Design was done in about one day, and was meant as a quick proof of concept. Due to extremely tight timelines, the design was left mostly untouched and the coding and implementation was done in about two weeks.

Master’s Thesis: Text to Forum

On my Master’s Thesis – a digital platform for youth aging out of foster care system – I came up with an idea to utilize texting as a way to contribute to the various forums on the platform, allowing foster youth to ask questions of experts and peers and get nearly-immediate responses. People like you or I could sign up to be a volunteer contributor on, for example, a forum about applying to design school. Because many people think of volunteering as a huge time commitment, this solution  allows anyone with a smartphone to become a volunteer on-the-go by simply replying to the text chain (for the forum that you have been assigned to) with information you deem helpful to the youth community. In 5 minutes or less, using only the messages app, you have volunteered to help underprivileged youth navigate some difficult life questions.

Global AR Wall

Rough tests of concept. Still hoping for the green light on implementation to further flesh out the concept.

The mission of Viacom and this project is to bring all of Viacom’s global employees together digitally and physically so that the feeling of “One Viacom” becomes more ingrained in our culture.

AR Games

At Viacom, as part of our explorations around using AR to connect global employees, we came up with an AR trivia game to connect employees with each other, our company values, and our IP. Employees can discover trivia questions spread throughout the various global offices by exploring the spaces through the AR app. The game would also be triggered by push notifications about a certain location in the building where they can find the next question.

Global Challenges

In the same brainstorm push, we came up with a game related to the AR Wall that would showcase a global leaderboard, issuing daily, weekly, and monthly challenges to earn points by competing with your team, as an individual, and by attending company events and networking opportunities.

Small (but Impactful) Wins

Viacom Intranet Landing Page

A small win: pushing the boundaries on what is able to be done on our internal intranet. Tasked with creating a place for employees to find information on our latest internal campaign, My Viacom Story, I worked with the Viacom intranet team to push the boundaries on what could be done as far as coding a landing page build within the intranet. I started out the process being told that we can only do a simple page type, and ended up with a more complex, unique, and successful landing page experience. Since then, this landing page has been used as the example for what the intranet landing page solutions can be.

Amazon Back-End Templates

Similar to the above, at Quidsi (Amazon), I was constantly working with the UX team to figure out new ways to use the pre-defined web templates offered in the Amazon back end system.
